He was banned at VF for registering multiple accounts and repping himself.

We gave him a second chance, but now he's blown that too.

In this virtual world of ours, friendship matters. I need help with BSOD, I send Jonathan a message asking him to take a look and half an hour later I have an answer. I have birthday, and I find several pages of congratulations. Mister X or Miss Y gets a new badge, and ot's not only noted but truly honest congratulated. it's nice to have this "shadow" world in co-existence with the real one.

Sometimes this world of ours takes over, makes us forget the real world. I don't know about you geeks but that happens to me every now and then. I forget the real world and real people. When it happens, it's nice to get back to earth and notice that friends in this real life also exist. A millionaire without friends is poor, a beggar with some good friends is rich.

I'm thinking this now, surfing on the net (re: Today [7]). My dear "brother in arms" Hans got a call from me earlier today. The call lasted about three minutes. I told him to go straight to a computer store, buy me a mobile modem with a pre-paid SIM-card, some tobacco and so on, and bring them to me as soon as possible to hospital. He left his office and his work straight away, and came about three quarters of an hour later with everything I had ordered. No questions about money, no "Sorry I'm busy now", no questions at all. No, that's not true; he had a question: "Anything else?".

Whatever your life is, it's nice to know you have friends. For us geeks, it's equally important to also have virtual friends. I feel honored to have my friends in this real world I live in, and you geeks, my virtual friends here. Proud to call you friends.

Oh s*** these painkillers are kicking in! Cheap high, health insurance is paying...

The clinic caféteria has a balcony where smoking is allowed, so I can smoke there from 7 AM to 8 PM. Outside those hours there's a garden by the back entrance. Those are only places where I can smoke.

Congratulations A Guy, that is quite an accomplishment. You must have been the inspiration for that movie "The Man With Two Brains". :)

    What a day. Full circus.

I had to be at clinic at 7AM. they gave me a plastic bottle of some liquid, said I have to drink it and then wait one hour, then some scans. OK, I drank it but they forgot me. At 9:45 AM I went to ask if they still remember I'm there, and got finally to scan. Next blood and pee into a can, more tests, no food or drink, and then finally at 3 PM when I thought I can call a cab and go home, they told I have to stay here until Saturday.

Called Angie, who called my doctor, and brought a laptop, some books and magazines etc. to me, confiscated both my mobile phones I had with me and arranged with hospital staff that they do not give WiFi passwords to me because she after consulting my doctors decided it would be harmful for me to surf all night from hospital bed. Instead, she brought some Blue-Rays for me to watch, she knows how much I hate German TV because they dub everything. But, clever as she is, she brought me a laptop with a fully charged battery but no charger; instead, she told she replaces the battery tomorrow with another fully charged one. She also confiscated my wallet and cigarettes, leaving me with €20 for caféteria and no cigs.

Computer for three hours, no Internet, no phone, no money, no cigs. That's not life as I know it.

I waited until she went back home to take care of Mutti and called a good friend of mine, sending him to buy a HP or universal charger for laptop, two packs of Camel's, and most important: a HSDPA Mobile Modem with pre-paid SIM-card. Can not complain, this is what it shows now when typing this and watching streaming television from Finland:

It's now about one hour 20 minutes since Angie left and I have cigs, laptop charger and Internet :). It's 5:40 PM now and life is OK again.

Tomorrow more testing, home Saturday noon. At least I can surf and smoke, although it's PITA to have to spend 5 minutes to get to only allowed spot where you can smoke, and another 5 minutes to get back to my room.

Forgot to ask Hans to bring some whisky!

Left side of my body is almost paralyzed at the moment. Not paralyzed per se but not functioning. CAT technician said "Looks not good..." but refused to explain what he meant, said it's up to doctors to interpret the pics.

Tomorrow I know more. Now I'm just happy to be here (SF, not hospital!), reading and posting.

    Kari
Hi Kari. I know we don't know each other but I just had to add that that's why that person is a technician and not a Doctor. I have had a similar situation and mentioned it to my Doctor who said "they should keep their opinions to themselves and just do their job". My prayers for you and your recovery. David

Multiple accounts, self-repping AND copy-claiming tutorials? I'm impressed in a sad way.

    +add:

I just found out that one of my old USB hard drives is failing. It has lasted some years, so I'm not too saddened by it

    John,
I am glad you have a multiple detection system. Would you please have it check to see where my brain is today?
I have multiple personalities and today I don't know who is in.
    Any and all help appreciated.

    Bottom line..........Great detective work John!
