Plus one to all that Kari. Life brings many changes and you seem to be going through some pretty s****y ones right now.
It may be time to hang up your sailor's hat but there are other hats you can put on.
You are probably going through more emotional states in an hour than most of us do in a day. I cannot begin to imagine what it must be like.
It says something about your personality that you have people, who have never met you. rooting for you right now, all over the world.
You are in my thoughts my friend, best wishes, John

Kari - we love you (in a virtual way, and non-virtually as well) and are looking forward to your recovery.

it really can't be easy going through what you are experiencing right now, must be very extremely frustrating. your forum communication skills are still of ultra-high quality - thanks for keeping us posted.

let's all hope you'll be out of hospital soon, and back in the 'real' world. i know it's not much fun - as you know, i spent over two months inside a hospital a few years ago, without the use of my arms for a lot of that time - at least you can still type well, and thanks to the wonders of modern technology, you can still let us know what's going on - i always enjoy reading your excellent posts - i'm looking forward to the next one, and the next, and the ones after that!

i'm sure the doctors, nurses and angie are doing their best for you, and it won't be long until their magic pays dividends, allowing you to return home soon.

i wish i had better words, but i'm sure you know what i mean. :)

I'm not sure they'll let me out today. Already changed my flight to Mumbai to Wednesday, according to my original plans I should fly tonight from Zurich.

Come on Kari, I know you want to go but given your current health situation it's a stupid idea!!!

If you go and have a bad turn which given your current condition there is a good probability, then you could ruin Dinesh's Wedding as well as make your condition worse or kill yourself.

I'm sure Dinesh would rather you get better at home rather than you risk your health making the trip to Mumbai.

    John,
    Well put!
Better to be home and close to care givers than to jeopardize your health and/or ruin the wedding plans Dinesh has worked so hard putting together.

I have to confess, I was thinking along these same lines.

Im not much of a wordsmith kari ,but they say time is a healer and that is what you must give.
time to heal not rush around i know you are a fighter but some fights you must tackle differently
take the time to mend and heal
im not so sure the pressure of a flight would be good for your brain right now so you must think on and beat this new problem by stepping back and relaxing,
allow your body to heal itself and for f***sake lay of the alchohol ,it will make you do things you shouldn't

Yes Kari We did use your recipe and I'm so glad I got the correct translation for Fabulous.

After reading your recent posts I see despite everything you still haven't lost your sense of humour!

I have also read the posts with regards to your health and Dinesh's wedding and to be honest I see both sides!

I understand that this would be a complete change and break from your current situation and probably just what you crave right now but at what cost? (Would you even be able to get insured to fly?)

If you were John I would chain and padlock you to the bed and swallow the key, but if it were me and I knew in my heart I had to go I would fight tooth and nail to ensure I was on that plane.

Ultimately, it’s your life and your decision and we have no right to advise you whether you should go or not. If we were if your situation what would we do?

You have to weigh up the pros and cons and see which is the best decision, all we can do is wait on the side lines and offer our opinions either way.

I feel that at present you need to concentrate on not what you cannot do but that which you CAN do!

You are our recovery hero who defies all odds, I’d bet on you any time as would half the people on here. If there is one thing we can guarantee it is you fight the good fight, but we are your virtual helpers who tirelessly route for you, now we ask that you let in those who are within arm’s reach, who you have shut out for a while.

NEVER be ashamed of any of your ailments as they are part of who you are.

I send you a ray of sunshine to brighten up your day and the following Irish blessing!

    May you always be blessed
    With walls for the wind.
    A roof for the rain.
A warm cup of tea by the fire.
    Laughter to cheer you.
    Those you love near you.
And all that your heart might desire!

    Get well soon!
