Anyone Celebrated Earth Hour?

I know I am a little late considering I'm on the west coast, but did anyone flip their lights or kill the cpu for a while? I'm not a prius type guy or anything, but I always thought Earth Hour was kinda neat :)

Nope - I find the notion of Earth Hour to be more about people feeling less guilty about using energy than anything else. In my opinion, and mine only, in the greater scheme of things it achieves very little - its a feel good factor.

Look, I'm not against it or anything. It just seems a bit pointless to me. It's not going to change anything.

Not to mention the massive voltage draw when everyone flips everything back on. I'm not an electrical engineer or anything, but in theory could use more power.

Alright, I will be honest, I only turned off a light or two, and killed a fan. I imagine, like you said electrotune1200, that the initial voltage draw would be immense. I have to agree with a lot you on here, although it's cool seeing major cities go dark for a little while, we have earth hour probably just to make us feel better about ourselves. Some of said that it saves power, but that might even be a myth..

in my country we have Earth Hour everyday for at least 3 times a day... in peak summer our government celebrate Earth Hours almost half a day every single day... what else the people want? No Light No Computers No TV enjoy.

The surge when everything is turned back on has to be a huge number. I have never even heard of Earth Hour. With all the brown out they have on the west coast, Earth Hour should be no problem.
