Today I got my car registered and replaced the license plates on it :)
i woke up @ 4pm sweating my arse off. forgot to open the window lastnight. (no A/C sucks) now its 6'o'clock coffee time.
Today I was enlightened with the funniest/sadest story in my neighborhood. It seems that around noon (EST/EDT) my neighbor named Buddy was outside mowing when he had the "call of nature". Like many men he found a bush nearby...and proceeded to his business. Things were going as normal until his cat "Spots" decided to jump and swipe/bite his "business"....poor fellow is in the hospital now. Bad enough he was injured but he is now the laughing stock of the nurses there and most of the neighbor
Here it's simple, you can't personalize so much. As with all plates for countries within the European Union, a blue strip on the left shows a shortened country code in white text (D for Deutschland = Germany) and the Flag of Europe (12 golden stars forming a circle on a blue background). That is always followed by city/region prefix code, no exceptions there. Then one or two letters, followed by one to four numbers.
The best I could do to get a personalized plate would be to move to Karlsruhe with city prefix KA, then pay a nominal (under €100) fee to get letters RI in the middle, followed with 4 numbers i.e my birthyear.
For those who might be interested of this: this example plate (image from wikipedia) is from a car whos owner lives in Saarbrücken. If he moves for instance here in Leipzig, he has four weeks time to change the local plates with city prefix L.

Anybody out there have the number for AA help line? And I don't mean American Airlines or The Automobile Association, I mean the real thing. I'm on my second bottle of Laphroaig here and seemingly unwilling to stop enjoying it...
