Monitor screen freezing and going green after 10-12min

    Hey guys.
Someone called me about this problem.
Since I don't know the OS (didn't ask... sorry), I ask for help in the Off-Topic. The thing I know is that the person bought the computer 1 year ago and bought an additional video card 6 months ago.

The problem is that 10-12min after turning on the computer, the screen freeze and turn to green.

I suspect an overheat problem or a graphic card problem. Maybe a monitor problem.

Can you guys, with more experience, shed a little more light on this? I don't want to waste my lil' customer's money and time.

    Move the thread in case.

    Later.

Did the problem start right after they got the new card, or was it OK for a while? You said "additional" - is it a replacement for the one they had or a second card?

Well, they added the card to be able to play Age Of Empire as far as I know. It wasn't a replacement.

Lebon14, is the monitor a CRT or LCD? If CRT it is probably the monitor, LCD could be the monitor, however, it sounds like the video card. If the system is powered down for a time (long/short) does the monitor come back on for that 10 to 15 minutes before the monitor goes green again.

Realize there are a lot of questions to answer, however, more information is needed to determine the problem. Will do a search to see if anyone else is having this problem. :)

Google has a ton of information on this and other screen issues. So without the make and model of the monitor it would be difficult to determine the problem.

I am aware that I'm missing a lot of information. I tried to call the guy back but no answer. Also, it's 11:05pm here. I won't call anyone at that time.

    So, questions to ask :
    1. CRT or LCD?
    2. Does the monitor come back if turn off and back on.
    3. Make of the monitor.
    4. Specs of PC and OS.

I'm gonna call the guy back this Saturday and ask those questions. I'm also gonna suggest him to try with another monitor if it is possible. If not, I will bring my own monitor and try.
