Nobody said that CCleaner is an unnecessary program.
The discussion is around the various tool bars, home pages and other things that come in the installer for some packages of freeware and get installed automatically unless you are vigilant and opt out of them.
Oh, misinterpreted it then. Even still, CCleaner doesn't come with ANYTHING except for CCleaner. I just installed it the other day after a reinstall of Windows.

    1. Language selection
    2. Software License Agreement
    3. Optional shortcuts for quicker access / Optional automatic check for updates
    4. Install happens
    5. Optional start now and Finish

I don't see how this person declares CCleaner a bad program with forced additions.

A good program and without forced ads, I agree.
But in figure I scored the installer commonly offered both by Piriform and download sites. It offered Google's toolbar until recently. Today it offers the Google Chrome. Only the slim version is free of ads.

    CCleaner - Standard

This the one I use, and it is ad free and no forced additions, and goes exactly the way I posted just above.

These standard programs I usually download from Filehippo. Not too much crap from there.

It seems that version 3.06 has no more ads. You're right. :)
