Windows 7: Other internet options

Other internet options

So where I live there are no cables. I have a phone line, but that's about it. I'd really like to hear some other suggestions as to which way to go as far as a reliable internet connection goes. Right now I get it from wildblue satellite which quite frankly sucks.

I need unlimited usage. I read about this thing from t mobile that let's you use one of those mobile hotspots, and instead of going into overage, it just slows your speed. Thing is, this might be faster than what I am currently on. Would this work?

Wat,
What are others in your area using for internet connection?
Wildlblue Satellite the only option?
Surely some tech service guy in your area would be a place I would start.

I always get replies like that. I live where the cables don't reach. Everybody around can get internet, but I don't have the cables in front of my house. What would a tech service guy do about that?

He might give you an alternative choice!
By tech service I am talking about a box store tech from Staples, Best Buy, or one advertised in your area where a simple phone call might help.
I am not asking you to pay for this service. But I would pick up the phone and start asking around.

Edit: Where do you live?

Minnesota. I've exhausted pretty much every option I can think of. I can't see somebody from best buy helping me. They usually just nag about buying direct tv. But I appreciate the suggestion.

So do some neighbors have cable internet. Would the cable co. run a new cable line to your house for a price ?

The price would be ridiculously expensive. In the high thousands. :/

I am from a small town in Southwest Minnesota so I can relate to you being out in the middle of no where.
Just keep checking around with close friends and schools that are close to you.

With your Satellite TV is your computer hooked to a modem?
Tell me more about Wildblue and their package to bring TV and internet to your house.

The satellite goes through a box, then through a router, and into any wireless devices/my pc. I average around 20kbs. There are no cables in front of my house. Asking around here will get me nowhere, since they have it a block away from me. People just figure I get cable. I'm looking more into wireless options, namely the one mentioned in my original post.

There isn't any clearwire here either by the way.

Just be careful when you go wireless!
Make sure all your private stuff is not exposed to the wireless hacker's. If that is possible.
Last ? on Wildblue Satellite....Do they offer an ugraded package with faster internet speed?

Hope all you Minnesotan's are thawing out. I remember shoveling snow off the baseball field after Easter my junior year.....a long time ago!
