    Parenthesis, exponents, multiplication, division, addition, subtraction. PEMDAS for you acronym lovers.

    I think there might be some sort of oceanic arithmetic gap going on here, causing the two different answers.

    Multiplication doesn't have precedence over division though and vice versa. If they're the only two operands left in the sum, then you simply just work left to right and in this case it would be divide then multiply, hence you get 288.

    Look this is running on several forums, with the BODMAS (uk), PEDAM (Canada) and many iterations of it.

    If you put the equation in exel or libra Office it give 288 as the answer, so that has to be correct

    How'd you figure that LS ?
    PEMDAS is basic intl. "Math Law" no such thing like an oceanic gap. Science is unified/internationalized for a reason!
    And even if I wasn't sure..I married a math teacher so I'm set for life
