    Which tv should i pick?

    Samsung - 46" Class / 1080p / 60Hz / LCD HDTV - LN46D550K1

    Samsung - 43" Class / 720p / 600Hz / 3D Plasma HDTV - PN43D490

Both are 3d but the first is 1080p and the second is 720p. Some people say they can see a difference and some cant. Im leaning toward the first since its full HD but it costs more. Is the first one listed a very good tv anyone have one?

The more i look i think Bestbuy messes up on the specs for the 46" Im not sure if its 3d or not.

    I'd go with 1080p over 720p.
720p looks very good and clear, but 1080i / 1080p is crystal clear.
    There's definitely a difference.

Thanks for the reply. Im also looking at a 3d 1080p vizio. Not name brand but it has good reviews and is only 675.

1080p every time plus plasma cost a fortune to run.

Absotively, 1080p, highest res available...this month.
Size depends on your room size, a 52" in a 12x18 romm is overkill.
Vizios seem reliable but have fewer perks, i.e. HDMI ports. A name brand may have 4 or more and a Vizio maybe 2. with a good AV/amp all you'll need is one HDMI on the TV though.
If this is a first HDTV you might compare LED vs LCD, the LED will use less power and some say have crisper, brighter colors.

what's the difference between LED and LCD?

How much more power does a plasma use vs the led or lcd?

It is the difference in the backlighting. Both use LCD's to make the display, a "normal" LCD TV uses flourescent tubes for this, LED TV has LED's, either behind each pixel or a row around the edges. Both are in fact LCD TV's but the ones using LED lighting technology are referred to as "LED".

The power consumption of a plasma varies depending on how it is set up and the manufacturer but it can be anything from 200 - 700 watts for a 50 inch screen. LCD would be around 200W or less and LED even lower.

One point you might like to consider is the bigger the screen the further away the optimum viewing area will need to be, so do take your room measurements and get advice as to which is the maximum screensize for your needs.

I have a Samsung 37" with LED backlighting and 1080 resolution, which looks fine when I'm sitting 12ft or so from the screen.
