do not help with Mac malware

Apple continues to tell support reps: do not help with Mac malware

How is Apple responding to the flood of customer calls about installations of the Mac Defender malware?
According to multiple tech support insiders, the company has doubled down on its policy of denying any help to affected customers. Meanwhile, despite evidence that a large number of customers have been affected by this issue, Apple has made no public statement and did not respond to two requests for comment.

I'm guessing the Apple PR department is working overtime in crisis management mode.

I know the article has an "Update" part that mentions it, but they've already acknowledged and responded to it. The article is a few days old already.

Yes. That's why I included the developing articles link.

I found the posted article interesting because the 'Mac is impervious to Malware' argument has been a banner Mac User argument against the PC platform for years.

    Right.

Well, hopefully a good thing to come out of it will be the ending of the annoying Mac vs PC commercials.

Nah, they'll find some way to say it wasn't a serious issue and then blame a Windows user for blowing the whole thing out of proportion, followed by a slew of new commercials hyping their perfection.

    They're that arrogant.

A surprisingly large number. That's unlikely to change, in this context and others. However, in this context, the larger market share Apple gets can only mean good things for quality control and newer, better and cheaper technologies. Competition has a way of doing that.
