You can always tell who the IPS guys are on the forums. It is a funny phenomenon that you see with enthusiasts. They will dump tons of money into almost every other component....but they will often "settle" for the monitor. But at the end of the day, it's the monitor that you look at almost every single second of using your computer.

@JaidynM: No need to apologize. I've just seen that same concept about high amounts of memory in gaming computers and I find it important to note for those who are just building up their rigs, that planning for 16GB of RAM is simply unncessary. It's almost universally better to spend your money elsewhere.

Monitors are quite important. Fortunately, I get them for free (as well as a number of other components) from my grandfather so I don't have to spend money on it.

Yeah 4 is functional and 8 is great. Even the largest games will rarely ever use much over 1.8gigs of active ram.

...and even that is usually just bad coding or a huge texture cache.

My 2600K showed up. Swapped it out with my 2500K. Got rid of the Ultra cooler and am using the stock cooler for now (212 should be here on Friday). Pretty sure the cooler is seated properly. Put about pea size dot of thermal paste onto the CPU (maybe slightly smaller). CPU is idling at 45C. Prime95 will being it up to 97C. I'll double check everything.

97C is quite high for a core i7. You don't usually want these going past 80. At 90, I believe they throttle themselves back.

Got my 212+ installed. Idles at around 35C. Full load (stock speeds) is around 58C. I'll try a 4.5GHz OC to see how things will work. I just wish I could figure out why the included CPU fan is always at 100% instead of automatically adjusting itself to the CPU loads... Looks like I'll still have to rely on Speedfan for automatic fan adjustments.

Can I install Icon Packs designed for Build 7600 to Build 7601? An Icon Pack was saying install on to 7600 only and after I checked my regedit, I learned that I have 7601 (Probably SP1, I don't know). Would I have any problems if I install the icon pack? Thanks.
