Magic #2 (if it works) is what would be called an "Easter Egg". Look it up on google. You'll probably be surprised at how many pieces of software have them. Frequently they exist without the companies knowledge but are removed when found. Kind of like a programmers version of PC board artwork.
They used to be a LOT more common back when computing was fun, now it's all dire and serious and an easter egg is likely to get you a billion $$ lawsuit so they are becoming more rare...
