    .jpg to .ico

Below is a .jpg I am trying to convert to .ico. When I try IrfanView or any web conversion site, I get an .ico; but it's just a black square. I have Photoshop 7, but there is no 'Save As .ico' choice. Can anyone help?

What size are you looking for the .ico to be?

You can try paint.NET, it allows saving as "icons.ico" I have some icons I made which look black in a thumbnail prev in a folder, but when applied to a file/folder etc, shows up as it should. Do yours still look black when applied?
Some even show a thumb with a black background instead of transparent, apparently just some Windows glitch.

    A Guy:
I'd like the 128x128 size if possible.

Tried Paint.net, didn't come out the way I'd like. I'd like to see the icon even in thumbnail preview when in the folder. Thanks for replying though Britton30.

I'll take a look at IcoFX, thank you for the link Roderunner.

Just one tip when creating ICO files for use with either Vista or win7 - create the icon in 256 pixel size as this is the new standard - ICOFX should also create the smaller images you need and encapsulate them into the file

That image will not look very good as an icon, it isn't square, and there is a lot of detail that will be lost
