Because this thread is "supposed" to be about badges and rep, I have noticed that people with the MVP badge are instantly shown as Guru's no matter how many green dots appear. This one only had 2 green dots with a Guru badge. I'am guessing that is the faster way to achieve Guru status.

I'am certain that the MVP's did some work to achieve this but I'am not sure of the criteria required for the MVP badges.

I had to fix about 500 problems to get this.

The people with that are Gurus, believe me. Shawn is a guru, he does not have the badge.

Just saying, they do indeed deserve it. I dont know what the exact criteria for that is, but I know MS hand picks them.

They're voted to be an MVP by their peers which makes it that much more of an achievement.

I believe one can apply (nominate oneself) and give MS the name of site(s) where the applicant has posted technical stuff and been helpful to the "community" and the user name, and some committee will assess the applicant's posts over some period of time to determine whether the applicant is deserving of the badge. I would think that most who have achieved Guru status here would probably qualify and be accepted.

I know I don't (though I can have fantasies... right?), but that would be an interesting idea to try...
