I'm leaving for Malaysia & Sri Lanka tomorrow where I'll be staying until the 7th of January. So don't miss me too much.

Today, 6th of December 2011 we Finns celebrate our 94th Independence Day. As an immigrant living far away from home I have today found tears in my eyes and warmth in my heart when talking with my mother on the phone and listening Jean Sibelius' Finlandia hymn. An especially great pleasure was to notice that first time ever Google noticed our day, so today we Finns have enjoyed of this:
I am sure all of you fellow ex-pats and immigrants can understand what I mean when I say that although completely happy with my adopted, self-chosen home country Germany, I really miss my native Finland. Especially today, 6th of December. Independence Day.
I really would like to ask you fellow geeks and geekettes to read what I wrote today one year ago: Today [5]
Please forgive me, old man being a bit sentimental... :)

Hello Kari.
What a fascinating story, there's certainly nothing to forgive.
When one considers what Stalin did to his own people it could be argued the it was only good fortune that enabled Finland to become an independent nation, but independent she is.
Enjoy your day, our thoughts are with you.
