    Suspicious E-Mail

I got a very suspicious e-mail. It's in my spam, fortunately but I was wondering if anyone knows anything about this phishing attempt?

    Dear Sir,

It is a fact that we have not met before neither have we had any previous business dealings, but I strongly believe that with understanding and trust we can have a successful business relationship.
For your information I am employee of New Zealand’s Oil & Gas Company Ltd, for more information you can visit our link

I have access to very vital information that can be used to move a huge amount of money out of the project account to a secured account. If it was possible for me to do it alone I would not have bothered contacting you. Ultimately I need a foreigner to play an important role in the completion of this business deal.

    The fund in question was sourced from over invoiced billings and contracts in the supply of;
THREE (3) PHASE, 60 CYCLE (5000 KVA) TRANSFORMERS FOR PHASE 2&3 - TARANAKI - HYDROCARBON TECHNOLOGY

I have done my homework very well .I have the machineries in place to get it done.

    - Do you have a well serviced bank account that can receive huge transfer without suspicion from your bankers?

    - Do you have a good relationship with your bankers?

    - Do you guarantee the safety of these funds in your account pending my arrival for disbursement?

If YES, then I will need more information about you such as

    -----Full Names

    -----Contact Tel

    -----Office /Residential Address:

    -----Occupation:

    -----Any form of ID:

This information will confirm that I am dealing with the right person as you know I have to be careful to avoid dealing with an impostor.

Kindly get back to me ASAP so that i know the next line of action. I look forward to meting you and doing good business with you.

    Treat as confidential.

    Regards,

    Chris Roberts.

Yes! It is a scam to get one's bank account info, you follow their instructions, tomorrow you're broke with an empty bank account. I've not seen this specific one but many others offering ridiculous sums of money to get you to "transfer" or otherwise handle someone else's money.

I also get winner notifications to many lotteries, but last I heard one needs to at least buy a ticket to win.

Don't open attachments claiming to be FedEx or UPS delivery info either.

It's just a mass email/shotgun approach. Nothing to worry about. Delete and move on.

But they are getting a little more creative. I even got a 'job offer' yesterday through an employment site that I haven't used in years.

As in every walk of life, if something seems too good to be true, it is invariably so.

I'm just amazed the the people who send out this rubbish think it will work, but even more amazed when people fall for it.

Before you delete it, is there anyway you can forward it to your ISP so that they can deal with it?
