How are you about keeping your computer files clean? Do you delete everything that you think is un necessary or does it add up a bit? For me I delete all programs I dont think I use any more or videos I dont watch any more. Its not that I think I'm running out disk space..Its just something I always done.
I have a lot of drive space between my many externals and my multi internal drives.
I generally do a bit of a clean out once a month or so and probably a big dump of excess stuff about once every 6 months or so.
Most my videos are streamed from netflix lately so they don't take up permanent drive space.
My personal movie/video backups are all on a 2tb external along with my game images. (I hate keeping up with dvd's)
Most everything else is covered by steam so I can just delete and reinstall at will anyway.
I am a junk man and have messages from the late 1980's from compuserv and they have come in handy when I had to recall information from the olden days. I have cd's from the first days of cd's and I have lots of 5 1/4" floppies, some 180, 360 and some 1.2meg. With storage so cheap now adays I just love it. I do keep things in directories by years so that I can get to what I want to reminice about. So There. :)
I do keep a old dual 3.5 and 5.5" drive in one of my computers so that I can read them. Haven't found one that would not read.

They are magnetic though so they won't hold data forever.
Why you wouldn't just migrate the data to a newer storage device I don't know.
I actually have the disk's for all my old DOS 3.1 stuff still.
Though they just sit in a closet I never use them for anything.
Well in the way of storage my entire library from my dos days probably constitutes about 30 megs of data.
Considering we had a 40 megabyte harddrive and tried to keep it 3/4's full or less.
I did also just find my original copy of wing commander though. Which was kind of interesting to see.
Maybe I misled a few, I have all those old media but I have created directories on my hard disk an copy all the files to them and then I create DVD's of all of them. I have dos 1.0, .1 and all the way up to 6.22 as images so that I can get to them if necessary.
FWIW: a friend of mine is a dentist and has an office management system written in compiled basic which requires extended memory. His old dos machine went south and he was in panic mode. I just put a new(old) hard disk in his 386 machine, formatted with the dos disk and copied all of his executables and data from his old disk. I had to really jump into the back of my memory on how to setup himem.sys and that in the config.sys. emm386 was interesting to get involved again. But bottom line. He was thrilled and it ran great and my teeth are now cleaner than they have ever been. :):)
