What is a digital copy of a new dvd film?

I was browsing for a dvd film and saw a copy advertised as blu-ray+dvd+digital copy.

What is a digital copy and is it superior to a blu-ray?

Thanks for your help.

Digital copy is a technique that allows you to easily transfer the movie to a portable device like a phone, ipod, etc. It's not meant to be superior to bluray.

Many thanks to all of you responders. The movie that I am interested in purchasing is "Hanna". I will wait until I can purchase it only as a blu-ray US Import Region 1 from Amazon. Unfortuantely Region 2 films are cropped really bad. I refuse to purchase films in the PAL format. Enough is enough.

Watched it last night, wasn't all bad but I had one problem with it. The mutated human monster things were highly annoying and completely unnecessary. The story would have been much better if the producers had elected to focus on the investigation of the ships state, location, and mission...
