What browsers does Silverlight or Flash run in?

What browsers does Silverlight run in and what browsers and versions of browsers does Silverlight not run in?
What are the browser formats to be concerned with if you want your web site to be viewed universally?
I mean, if you can develop a cool silverlight app, I know that Silverlight does not run on Internet Explorer 64 bit. So I guess I would have to use HTML 5 for that.
What about the other browsers and platforms and what would be the replacement technologies?
This web page gives a good idea of what browsers / Operating Systems / and Browser versions are compatable
Microsoft Silverlight - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Here is a graphic from that web page that shows what browsers use SilverLight:

The first thing I noticed about this chart was all the grey "N/A" areas. These are clearly areas that we do not have to worry about. We don't have to worry about these areas because they represent a browser and OS combination that does not exist. For example, there are no Internet Explorer version 6 running on windows 7.
If I was to circle the areas where I am concerned with for using Silverlight, it would look like this:

And if I was to circle the areas in red where I need to find some other way of representing dynamic information (like for flash) it woould look like this:

    So this makes new questions.

#2. Does flash run on the Mac OS.
What is missing in this chart is all the Linux distributions. Does Flash run on all those or do I need to find an alternative?
Also, this chart does not even mention Internet Explorer 9 64-bit which is why I started this question in the first place. I understand that HTML5 is supposed to be the next big thing that runs on this browser. Will it run on other browsers?

Depends on what browser is being used. FF is default on a lot of distros.

that web page does not give me any information I need, or I asked for. But thanks anyway. It was fun to read.

A list of what browsers that flash does not run on does not do me any good either.

So now current browsers fully supports HTML 5 and all of its features (as we see here Comparison of layout engines (HTML5) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia).
But I wonder what browser versions will no longer support Silverlight.
Those browsers are the ones which will only use HTML 5.
According to this link, IE 10 will not use Flash or Silverlight:
Internet Explorer 10 Metro will not support Flash, Silverlight

This article lays it all out:
    http://html5tutorial.net/general/whi...ort-html5.html
We tested out a few of the most popular browsers to see how ready they are for HTML5 and this is what we found out. For this test we used http://www.html5test.com which offers an HTML5 testing page and a rating system that goes up to 400 points depending on how many HTML5 features are already implemented into the browser.

Chrome 10.0 was the big winner coming in at 301 points out of 400 possible. They have already implemented most of the functionality to be a compatible HTML5 browser. In addition, many of the features that are not added are partially added. So Google Chrome is definitely way out in front in the race for HTML compatible browsers.
Firefox 4.0 is next in line and they scored pretty decently getting 249 out 400 possible points. They are still missing a lot of key elements but got bonus points for the audio and video implementation as well as their parsing rules.

Internet Explorer 8 is pretty far behind the curve. IE scored a total of 32 points out of 400. Pretty dismal showing for what used to be the top internet browser in the world. Internet Explorer has been playing catch up with rendering design since the implementation of CSS and their poor showing here tells us it does not seem like much will change in the future.

So those are the statistics. At the moment the only HTML5 browser that is going to get you very far is Google Chrome and until browsers catch up with the newer language it is probably a good idea to use it sparingly in your designs until it actually is a true and tested standard.
