    The Desktop will never die.

Despite what has been said many times on various sites, I really do not think there is any chance at all of desktops being replaced by tablets and similar devices. Why? There will always be enthusiasts who like to upgrade/tweak their own hardware, and as anyone who has ever opened up a laptop knows, desktops are far easier because they are bigger. What WILL happen, I would bet is that mainstream computing will go to tablets and similar devices and the desktop will become primarily an enthusiast product. It is similar to how full towers are generally used more by enthusiasts than by people who just want to use Microsoft Office.

^ I believe you misunderstand what is being said.

What they are saying is that we are in the "post PC" era. 10 years ago the only thing that got on the internet really was the PC. Now, 10 years later, there are many other devices on the net. Phones, game consoles, TV's, tablets, etc. The estimate going forward is that more and more devices that are NOT pc's will access the net. Nobody said that nobody will use a PC. It just won't be the defacto device for many.
