Speed up HDD w/ SSD? RAID?

    Hi guys,

I know there is a way to raid an sdd with an hdd with somehow special method, so a software is inspecting the data trafic and stores fequently used things on the SSD as well, kind of raid 1 system.

Do i need a specific intel mobo and intel ssd? I want to buy a cheap 60 or 120 gig ssd, is there a way to do this?

    Thanks in advance!

    Hi,

My understanding is that the array will default to the slowest disk speed i.e. your RAID will run at the the speed of the HDD.

The Intel Z86 chipset apparently can use the SSD as a cache for a RAID array HDD, but I'm not sure how effective this is:
Intel Z68 chipset can use SSD as huge HDD/RAID cache » SSD Freaks
