Windows 7: Any film scanner recommendations?

Any film scanner recommendations?

I'm looking for a good quality 35mm negative an slide scanner.
The Epson V600 looked ideal but $200 in US & Canada while $550 in Australia!
The Epson had "Digital Ice" which is good for scanning old Kodachome slides

I'm prepared to pay more than $200 but not to be ripped off. Has anyone got experience with a good scanner?

Windows 8.1 Pro w/Media Center 64bit, Windows 7 HP 64bit

I have the Epson Perfection V300 and it does a nice job. Uses Led lighting for instance on and no warm up wait. Comes with the film and slide adapter.

Depends no doubt on what your expectations for "good quality" are. I have a Microtek i800 which I like but it cost twice that.

Maybe if you told folks which scanners you are considering, you'd get a better response.

Thanks for the responses.
In terms of quality expectation. Say for negatives and slides I looking for the quality that a good lab print could produce at 8x10" min to around 12x15". Good color definition and sharpness when viewed on a 1920x1080 IPS monitor or shown on a 50" hidef LCD TV. Most were shot with an old Pentax SLR (non digital of course).

I'm used to Photoshop elements processing but would like to avoid needing to hand tweek all but the very special scans. I'll probably also need to buy something like Silverfast to do this.

Now days I'm a pixel peeper with a Nikon D90. I'm hoping some of my better old scanned shots could compete. So ok - I'm fussy.

After a fair bit of research, the Epson Perfection V600 looked like the best compromise in terms of cost vs performance. I was hoping other members may have an interest in this area and could recommend an alternative scanner which I may find more fairly priced in my region.

Film Scanner and Printer Not Working
Today I thought I'd do some film scanning with my six week old Epson V600 scanner. It powered up with the green light but the usual blue light didn't come on. I checked connections and all was well. I put in a ticket to Epson. Some thirty minutes later I needed to print a document on line,...

Need negative film adapters for Canon 9950f scanner
I have an excellent scanner, Canon 9950f (now discontinued), which I've used for several years scanning hundreds of old negatives of various sizes. Trouble is, the plastic film adapters (or frames, or guides) are shot. I'm looking to buy a new (or relatively unused) set. If I had to, and the price...

Film: Pandorum
Watched it last night, wasn't all bad but I had one problem with it. The mutated human monster things were highly annoying and completely unnecessary. The story would have been much better if the producers had elected to focus on the investigation of the ships state, location, and mission...
