MS came out with a strong statement this week that Windows 8 will not include third-party software with Windows Update. The argument had been that by using Windows Update to update everything on your computer, MS would have a more secure system.
But MS explained that this would involve too many different types of software that involve to many different user needs. In other words, that idea is out of the question for any Windows OS in the future.
Microsoft Nerd, a tech writer whose rumors sometimes come true, reports that Windows 8 will come out too late for some of the major MS phone hardware. But he claims that MS phones will run Windows 9 when it comes out.
Despite his claims, MSNerd is essentially an intelligent rumor-monger, but this rumor doesn't disagree with any known facts.

A tech site reports that for 2011, tablet sales will number about 70 million, while PC sales will number about 385 million. The problem here is that tablet sales are increasing, while PC sales are decreasing.
After discussing the superiority of Apple to Windows when operating a tablet, the author predicts that Windows 8 tablets will be superior to Apple tablets. He then predicts that Windows 9 tablets will not only be superior, but will cost less.
A tech writer claims to have heard from people within MS that MS wants to drop support for the traditional Windows desktop (a picture with icons scattered on it) in favor of their new Metro desktop. This would conserve power and improve the quality of smaller divices such as tablets. It was then predicted that Windows 9 would definitely eliminate the traditinal desktop.
Despite the guy's claims, I think he is only inventing intelligent rumors.
I found an old rumor that Windows 9 will be voice-controlled only. That rumor doesn't even rate as "intelligent."
Another set or rumors from a reputable site says that 9 will be released in 2014. I agree with the author that there is no foundation to the claim. I regard it as an intelligent guess.
I worry about windows 9 when 8 is officially released. I dont think that far into future myself.
I Googled Windows 10, and learned:
1) Depending on who's counting, Windows 10 was either Windows 98 Second Edition or Windows 7.
2) Someone has already posted screen shots of Windows 10 on YouTube. Actually, it's his own conception of what Windows 10 will be like, but he's serious.

I sure hope so that is going to be a pain if they keep doing that. No one that is non tecky will be able to keep up up with it. I am sure they could, but I would get lost.
