i used to, a long time ago, when i was even poorer than i am today. for a while my mobo, drives etc lived in a cardboard box, then i had the inspiration to stick everything in a car tyre.

it's not a great idea though, as your hardware is open to all sorts of dangers eg spilling coffee, short circuits, kids, pets etc etc

Not any more, I used to have a system built into a small bedside chest of draws. Motherboard in the middle draw, psu in the bottom draw and drives in the top draw, I extended the cables from the PSU myself with solder and heat shrink, and cut a groove in the bottom of the top draw for the drive cables. This was when a 500Mz celeron with 256mb RAM was considered a decent set-up.

    MM

A coffee spill might be a bit inconvenient with this set up.

Of course with this set up I could recharge my pacemaker while surfing the web!
