Probably. I might have to wait a few months though until I can get a free copy of my gramps . He gets stuff free from his work.

I normally move to the next operation system as soon as they come out. I'm already reviewing the Win8 Developers Preview. I would expect the new system to be better than the existing one. I see a lot of things I like with it. I do, however, expect to see an option in the final version to allow the user to chose which start screen works for them.
Like anything new, it takes some time to get use to the changes.

I read a review of the Windows 8 that is out (is it a BETA?) and the reviewer (Hiawatha Bray) said that you could switch to the "classic Windows desktop" from the touchscreen GUI with a simple change in settings.

Can anyone playing with it confirm this?

There are hacks , if you like - many people are doing it because the default Metro interface is awful to use without a touch screen.

Not everything works very well if you do that - but it is an early release, so MS are sure to provide an easy method to choose which interface you want.

Raises the question of why they are Frankensteining the two together.

People will use the Metro interface on tablets, etc, and the useable windows interface on a proper machine.

They are completely different and serve different purposes.

Perhaps MS think hundreds of millions will want to flip back and forth between the two.

They could be right - stranger things have happened.

Brink even has a tutorial for it,

That is good to know. If I were to upgrade it would be for a laptop or desktop and I would have no interest in the Metro interface.

I don't see myself moving to Windows 8 unless I need a new PC. That's also unlikely. A Guy

OP: we need a 3rd option in the poll: "Wait and see".

    yep.

Not much point speculating about 'will I or won't I?' without solid facts to make a decision.
