Realistically you can't have one in your laptop, but you might be able to have one in a desktop. The i3 processor in my laptop pulls thirty-five watts. Lets say for sake of argument that Intel has whittled the power consumption down to ten watts per core on this new chip which is five hundred watts to power the chip. I think the max that the PCIe bus can supply through the slot is three hundred watts so it's likely that the card will require a power drop direct from the power supply. It is an interesting approach that allows Intel to develop and perfect the technology in a replaceable and upgradable form factor. I wonder how long it will take this technology to percolate into the standard line of processors.
