I believe that the days required is there to make sure that badges awarded are to folks who have proven to be helpful and committed to remain here to help people. Like any sitpulation it is there as a clause but doesn't have to be followed because in no way is the creator of the forum bound by his own rules.

Just to clarify this matter- the major reason for early promotions is that quite often you will get a member joining the forum who's status has been proven elsewhere - the Administrators will set the member's level to that appropriate to their experience.
