I probably have the highest cost, lowest performance ratio for an internet connection of anybody on this forum. We live out in the country with no cable or DSL available. It costs $160/month for the connection shown below. Fortunately for me, my employer pays for it otherwise I couldn't justify the cost and would have to settle for an even slower connection.

now that's and this is what i got...

but of course the Download and Upload speeds here are shown on SpeedTest are the connection speed we buy but not the transfer rate we get which is always divided by 8 like "Your Connection Speed / 8" (2048 / 8 = 256Kbps) :)

That's due to one being given in bps (bits per second) and the other being specified in Bps (Bytes per second), 8 bits to a byte ya know.

so far bt has been the fastest in my village, we're about 4 miles from the exchange (and 12 miles from gloucester) so i can't get the full 8 meg. this speed is very consistent. service has been quite good. only one bad day in 6 mo. but they were having some major problems, along with a lot of other isp's that day due to a cable problem. took them about 5-6 hrs to fix it. no problems locally, installation was scheduled, engr. arrived exactly on time, installed it in a few minutes and so far so good.
