Empty promises by WUBI to simply install Ubuntu easy-peesy-lemon-squeezy. The number of graphical glitches are just astounding, and I haven't even yet managed a clean installation....as for dual-monitor support, lets not even go there.

I conclude that these Linux distros are just incapable of interacting with modern hardware, without the need for complicated workarounds

Perhaps I just need to accept I'll never attain the dream of an easy/no frills/simple-to-setup Windows7/Linux multiboot....

    ICit.. go to DoNotCall.com
Register every phone you have on the DO NOT CALL listing.. It's FREE... if you get 3 calls from anyone after being on the do not call list, file a complaint with DO NOT call.. ( or who ever do not call suggest.) the caller is fines.
    DoNotCall.com
LET me also say this.. there are some who will NOT fall in the category of being fined.. as you will find out.
Ok Ladypink I'll have a look but haven't heard pf it for down under but would be the go eh?

File reports with your mobile company every time it happens. Call customer support every time it happens. Be a pain in their butt, the company will get it to stop. It took me a lot of phone calls and complaints but it did stop. I am also on a limited text messaging plan so I told the mobile company I am NOT paying for SPAM. You may have one of those unlimited plans so that will not hold up, but it was the bit extra to get them to do something about it. I hate this kind of SPAM the one you pay for!!! Everyone with a mobile phone needs to fight this!!

Heh well that's nothing new, I've had to put up with that for 20 years now, the bad news is it's really not getting any better, and in fact with the recent spate of UI "improvements" it seems to be getting worse again.

These days I just run Linux in a VM. The "hardware" is stable and so success rate is fairly high (though I don't even attempt to play games or anything on it, development only)

Yeah, actually Ubuntu 11 and Mint 12 are both so bad I've stuck with Ubuntu 10.10 for the foreseeable future May switch back to Fedora if things don't improve (though part of the problem is Gnome 3 being annoyingly problematic which may mean Fedora is out too)

Going through a Drive Thru, paying for it, waiting at next window then driving home only to find they
didn't fill all the order completely.

Normally I will check the complete order before leaving that window....don't care if there is a line of cars waiting..
it's when you don't check it is when the trouble begins.
