Mate you haven't seen roads till you've seen the Aussie ones well rather the goat tracks
Just as by the by I am really pee'd that in Computer on an old machine I tried opening a file that couldn't be opened in the machine and M$ put me through to Windows File Association - went through some wretched scan only to be asked to front up with money to get the errors put right -COME ON M$ thats a bit sleazy!!
You may already be infected even if you didn't click on the fake scan.
Run a full Malwarebytes scan in Safe Mode if necessary.
If that fails download, write to flash stick or Burn to CD and run a full scan with Microsoft Standalone System Sweeper.
Hiyya Gary thanks mate I am now concerned cos it was on a Windows site - http://shell.windows.com/fileassoc/*****/***** and when I tried it again no such site came up it came up with another ref to "sponsored sites" that did not include that scanner.
It looks like someone has poisoned the site or used a redirect. I get a "504 Bad Gateway" message.
MalwareBytes has no active protection unless you've paid for the Pro version and Comodo is a firewall which wouldn't stop it. I use MS Security Essentials if using a machine temporarily. Link in my sig mate.
