me too only I couldn't survive. I started up a small pc repairs and upgrades service. I would, whenever possible, do on site work. It grew rather quickly and sustained itself (and me) for a couple of years. But life stepped in and one thing led to another and it was no longer viable. Pity, because it was my dream to be my own boss doing something I love. Recently started a new job, which I could make a career and I'm passionate about what we do so I'm happy

That sounds just like what the Job Centre classed my husband as, too old, too qualified so we don't want you.

He's an accountant and turned 60 in January and where we live they're not interested in experience.

Recruiting paradox: companies are looking for young people under 30 with 20 years of experience, normally choosing a young one over a more experienced applicant.

Trouble is those youngster only know it through books plus it means they don't have to pay them much.
