You didn't by any chance work on the Dollhouse, did you?
I once got a letter from AmEx "Please leave home without it". Turns out they had applied my payment to somebody else's account. They didn't even apologize after I sent them the payment proof.
At least we think he's not a Canadian Bacon of Light ... unless he migrated south ...
It all depends on your intended definition of "lying".
I really doubt there is anyone over 1 year old who has NEVER, EVER knowingly told a misrepresentation of the actual facts. But that is very different from doing so in a routine manner, and even more different if it is done to misdirect influence and benefit.
When acosted by "Hello, can you please give to the blah-blah fund for higher chipmunk education?" someone answers "I already gave at the office", this I do not consider a lie, just a polite brush-off. Doing so from time to time because what you do it's none of the second party's business is part of life and fine by me.
If someone says "I am taking care of you because I love you" when in reality they just want be able to demand favors back, that is lying and just plain bad.
Of course there's all those grey in-betweens ...
PS - just to clarify in my first example, I was assuming they didn't really give a rat's a$$ about chipmunk education ...
