    What a drag

I am in the market for a new dektop. I was looking at this HP model. The one thing that was not clear is whether there are Sata III ports on the mobo. So I called HP to find out. After 2 hours later and talking to 5 guys I stiii do not know. They did not even understand my question - I think.

Does anybody know whether there are Sata III ports? I need at least one port for my new Crucial M4 SSD.

I searched in 10 websites for specs even in my area, but i can see only sata 2.

    Nothing about sata 3.

    Ports 2UB 2.0 Front I/O, 2USB 3.0 HD, HM Top I/O

Edit: Ok usb 3 in specs.

Though if you notice in the upgades for Secondary Hard Drive is:

    500GB 7200 rpm SATA 3Gb/s hard drive
    1TB 7200 rpm SATA 3Gb/s hard drive

    Nothing more.

I will check more websites in my area.

Thanks for going thru the trouble. I came out empty handed too on my research.

    WHS,
Check out the reviews (44 of them) and see if you can't pose the question there or e-mail them.
Tried to find all the specs on your desktop I came up lame.

This is what I found at HP.> Product search results

There are two 1000 series and two 1100 series listed.
    None have Sata 6.0Gbs.
All have Sata 3.0Gbs and Sata-1 as HP has marked them.
How many each is not marked.
The 1100 has at least 2 Sata 3.0Gbs as you can buy it with two HDD's installed.

Thanks Dennis and Mike. I sent them an email. But I am afraid you are right. I probably will have to look elsewhere. I will try Gateway.

There is no one in your area that would assemble your parts?

If I ordered everything there are a couple of privately owned shops locally that would assemble for me.
I wouldn't want to spend the extra to do so but if necessary I would. I would rather use parts I want over a HP or Dell.
    Just a thought.

Asus also sells assembled PC's on this side of the pond. Not a recommendation I have never dealt with Asus assembled PC's.
Only their parts which I like.
I don't know if they are sold in the EU or not.

    WHS,
Be more than happy to put it all together for you. Just make sure you get me a couple of rolls of
Duct Tape and some crazy glue.

I promise not to promise or guarantee it will work.

Shipping costs from the States would be outlandish.
It was going to cost me $50 to ship a 3lb. normal size item by Post from Germany to U.S. three years ago.
    $150 UPS.
    The items were only $40.
Needless to say I did not buy the items.

Plus the chance of damage during shipping. Then what do you do?
