    Pixelation

No, not the insane kind, just that related to computer graphics. I use custom icons for websites that I Googled, and at their normal size, they look okay, but when enlarged, some become quite ragged looking, because I guess their web designers saw no reason for anything better.

Without starting over from scratch, is it possible to take a ragged icon and transform it to something with finer pixels, so that it looks as sharp as it's smaller counterpart does?

You might try researching vector graphics to get the best understanding of that particular situation...

Thanks, but I'm not prepared for a major research project. I was hoping that there might be a bit more simple answer available...but then I tend to be a bit on the wishful side. However, your answer may be the best that I could expect.

If there were an easy way of doing that that didn;t look terrible, windows would probably already be doing it

In fact it is, basically you can't do too much except spline interpolate up which smoothes out the jaggies some but also blurs more.

You could load the low res icon into photoshop, enlarge, then redraw on top if you have some PS Skilz :)

Well ugh, photoshop doesn't do icons some other icon editor...
