What happens if I don't return a libary book in the KBH libary?

    Hello guys,

So I was working in Denmark for 2 months and suddenly I got fired and I was said to leave the house where I worked as a nanny at once. And I had 3 books borrowed at the library, but my bosses told me they will return the books to the libary because it was late in the evening, they told me to leave right away, and there was no way I could possibly do it myself. I borrowed them using my libary card, but it was my employers' address there.

So now i checked, but they still haven't returned the books. Now I am back in Bulgaria, and I am afraid what will happen if my employers don't return the books on time, will the Danish Government send the police after me, or if will I get fined and when I get fined, will the library put me to court? Because I really want to do it, but I can't, I am in Bulgaria now, and my employers hate me very much, and there is no way I could ask them to do it.

Please tell me what is the worse that can happen.
    I am very afraid.

    Thank you

    Best Regards
    Stefany

    No.

For 3 books? 99.9% chance you won't be going to court

    Stefany,
    My first thought would be....
Call the library and (remain anonymous) ask them what one would do in this particular situation.

My girlfriend and myself live a half mile from the library. About four years ago, she returned a book, but they didn't mark it received. She has gotten several letters about the book but did nothing. They just finally forgot about it. == Next time I would mail back them myself and not leave them with anyone else. PS - Our library is also our voting place. My girlfriend doesn't vote anymore.

Just out of courtesy, perhaps you should call the library, explain the events & give them the location of the books. Inform them that your prior boss said he would return them, so that in case he doesn't, they'll know where they are.

But no, they won't send anyone after you for a library book.

Hi stefany ,long time no see, as borg says contact the library, explain the situation and give them the address of your former employers, so they can write asking for the return of the books.

dont worry about the police ,we only have library police in the UK

    Hello Stefany,

It is not feasible for the library and the Danish Police to come to your country for you to recover the library books. The cost of the books is very less compared to the expenditure and procedure involved. The library will simply write off the books.

But you can write to the library as a courtesy explaining your position. You can remove this issue from your mind and relax. Nothing to worry! :)
