You need to get out more
They let me out for the weekend!

Today , my youngest daughters (age 9) six week new pierced ears regime was up ,which means that she can wear any earrings and not the sleepers that she got her ears pierced with.
so this morning she is putting her brand new earrings in before school, nice little strawberries and she drops one of them ,she thinks she dropped it down the sink plughole, so being the perfect dad i tell her dont worry i can take the sink apart and get it for you, she stops crying and i set about taking the pedestal from under the basin so i can get at the swan neck,
the bloody pedestal is jammed real tight on the lino and tight under the sink, after pulling back the lino and messing for ages i finally get the swan neck off and tip the contents into the sink, making sure the plug was in first...no earring .
minutes later wife finds it under the door, i should say my wife had had a good look for it before i set about dismantling the sink pipework .
so daughter is happy and trots off to school with mum and her new pair of earrings.
meanwhile im at home putting the sink back together ,i finally get the pedestal back after tussling with it to get the lino back etc, no easy job .
later today my eldest daughter says to me the sink is leaking .
i end up back under the sink tightening up the pipes and discover the plumbers mate seal round the plug on the underneath has come away and now leaks ,
i now have to purchase a large enough wrench and a tub of plumbers mate to repair the damage.
wife gets home and i tell her about my crap time with the sink and the new problem .
    she says
it was only the back of the earring that got dropped ,i have loads and it wasnt a problem if it had gone down the sink.

    nice to know that ...
    LOL, sounds like fun.

    update on the sink repairs,
bought some plumbers putty and a wrench got home , the wrench is too small ...FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU.....
manage to seal the leak with the putty and no need for the wrench...

struggle to get the tight fitting pedestal back under the sink ,get to the last little push at the bottom of the pedestal, the top of the pedestal pings forwards and knocks a chunk out of the basin.
now pricing up a new basin and pedestal ,
will need a plumber to fit the taps and plumb in the sink,
looking at about £140 or more not forgetting the price of the putty and the wrench, £12, all because of a pair of £10 earrings.

Ouch!! So these £10 earrings have transformed themselves into £150+ earrings.

Memo to self: Do not try to insert earrings by using the mirror over the sink in the bathroom. Use the one in the hall instead.

    Hahaha - thats gold Boobah.

On the weekend my IT/PC skills are requested by the wife. Despite my protestations, lets the kids play with her HTC Windows Phone. Now, when she hooks it up to the laptop, she gets the "ding-dong" sound and it charges, but it won't synchronise with Zune. There I am cursing like an old sailor, uninstalling Zune, reinstalling, checking device manager tec. etc. - no luck. I'm cursing everything Windows, when I look down and notice the USB cable is nearly detached from its plug, and there's loads of thin frayed wires hanging out!!!!!! I show her the result, and once more lecture her about kids, phones, and thin USB cables....she looks at me and says : "Well can't you just weld it or something?"

FFS! I didn't know whether to laugh or cry..............

    Top Tip,
when inserting earrings using a mirror above a sink, put the plug in first. .

its strange but i actually didnt swear or get angry ,i just kind of felt deflated!
gathered the bits of ceramic up and superglued it all together, it looked ok except for the joints were not flush as it was ceramic cracks, as a temp measure i have stuck some gaffa tape over it and we will have it fixed soon.
the sink is fully functional except for the ugly tape on the base ...
may purchase some white tape hahahah!
