Thank you all for your good wishes, but it wasn't much of a birthday as I was unfortunate enough to lose a close family member yesterday, and so I hardly gave a thought to the date at all, but it wasn't entirely unexpected which is why I ain't been in much recently...

Rest assured, however, if there'd been a cake then I'd have needed a fire extinguisher to blow out all those candles! This thread's cheered me up a bit and I'll be back on form before too long - thanks again.

I'm really sorry for your loss, Frank.

That being said I still hope you will have a nice (belated) birthday.

So sorry to hear about your loss Frank, it's never easy when it happens I've not long lost a very dear friend, hopefully you have happy memories that will help to ease the pain and so not always make a sad association with your birthday.

I take it there would have been plenty of cake to go round then if it was big enough to hold a load of candles.

Thanks guys, and girls, things are starting to look better now...

I swear my birthday is jinxed though... I've previously been made redundant on 30 January, have even ended up getting divorced on the very same date, and it's also the same date as "Bloody Sunday" massacre which happened in Northern Ireland...

BBC News - Bloody Sunday - what happened?

Out of pure interest I looked up celebrities born on the same date, which apparently includes... Franklin D Roosevelt, Phil Collins, Gene Hackman, Dick Cheney, Brett Butler, Christian Bale, Roy Eldridge, and several hundred more...
