Remastered - It's basically the same thing you would get if you carefully dubbed a very good copy of the VHS tape to DVD (which may actually be what they did!).
Not at all. They take a good film copy, scan and post process to remove age artifacts, scratches etc. Look at the blu ray remaster of the African Queen or the superb remaster of 2001: A Space Odyssey which was shot with Super Panavision 70 (65mm negative).
Colourisation is totally different and I think B&W should remain B&W but can still be remastered.

"The Last Picture Show" would be a good B&W one to clean up. A good classic - Texas small town life in the early 1950s.

One of my favourite classics is Gone With The Wind starring Clark Gable and Vivien Leigh.

My wife thinks I'm mad for watching such an old film, but I'm just a sentimental old fart who likes to wallow in nostalgia. :)
That is a good movie. The only thing I don't like is that before the movie starts, you know who won the war.

That's quite true. Only trouble is, some people still don't believe it. We have some friends who live in St Cloud, FLA who still think the American Civil War hasn't ended yet.

Very true and it's a shame. Life's too short to be fighting all the time.

Thanks for that quickdraw. It looks amazing in HD. :)

I'll be keeping this clip, that's for sure.

It's quite incredible that this film still has the capacity to stir the emotions after 73 years.

I agree, but if people didn't fight about one thing, they would fight about another. Perhaps it is good that they contend over a lost cause...less bloody.
