No love in Win8 land... lol

DL'd the Win8 Consumer Preview Setup to see if my rig had what it takes to run the latest and greatest from Microsoft.

After about 30 secs of "Checking Apps and Devices " I get: Internal Error:Error retrieving the scan report.

I've deleted the file and dl'd it over again - twice - same error message.

Oh well, I can wait for the final release I guess... lol...

The only one that wouldn't work without an update of some sort?

    Microsoft Security Essentials.

I am running the beta of MSE, for what that's worth.

Thought about that. Reluctant just in case I have incompatible software for the Win8 "experience"

Too funny - been reading the Eights forum. Not many happy campers. The layout has changed pretty dramatically - Win8 is more like a smart phone OS than a desktop. I suppose that's one way for MS to save cash - build an OS that ports across to any platform large or small.

Might be keeping W7 around like XP

i don't know, i like it but most of the simple features what are supposed to make your life easier seem to be cumbersome tasks now, like simply removing the location in weather app, for the life of me i can't remove the location is thinks i am to the location i actually am.
