Ging Green -- should Hotels CHARGE for using the Elevators

Hi there
Interesting piece of speculation
In these days of trying to reduce Energy consumption should hotels charge for elevator usuage -- or probably a fairer way --to give non users say a discount either cash rebates or some sort of Free meal / drink / reduced cost of next visit.

Of course you can make exceptions for Handicapped / etc but when I see some really overweight slob using an elevator to go down ONE FLOOR only then I think --some sort of charge here should be made.

I always try and take the stairs where possible except if I'm at the TOP of the building say 15 floors up. --Even then I walk up the ist 7 flights and take the elevator for the rest.

I rarely travel with anything more than "Hand Luggage" these days so the the issue of carrying vast amounts of luggage doesn't arise.!!

Anyway it's excellent exercise -- often a few trips up and down a staircase is MUCH better than any amount of jogging and far cheaper than membership of a gym.

Just an idea but it could work.
