    Where is everybody

Lately I miss a lot of familiar faces. I know many are busy with Windows 8 and are also active on the /8 forum - there is a lot of activity but mostly by new faces (which is good too). Has the interest in /7 died out ??

There are certainly some familiar faces gone a while now. And others seem to lose interest. I don't think it's Eight, as most of the action is still here. Over the years, I've seen many come and go. Never was on a mega forum like this one, but I'm sure it still applies. I don't think the interest in Seven has died out, in fact, I believe a lot of XPers are making the switch as their hardware gets replaced. Me, you can't get rid of

I've had some small health issues and such which kept me away for a while. It has nothing to do with Windows 8, my interest in that product is nearly non-existent.

Thanks guys for sticking around. That gives me a certain comfort. Lately I felt a bit lost. I ended up making most postings on the /8 side. I have to say that the /8 discoveries and discussions are very interesting too.

I've been playing with Eight and suffering with App-block and IE 10. I can say with much certainty that I'll be on Windows 7 for quite some time. Whether you want me or not.

Of course we want you Ken. Sorry to hear that you had a difficult experience with /8. I am having a ball. It is really interesting. But IE10 is indeed a challenge. We should ask Airbot to make us a tutorial. He seems to know things about IE10.

Well, it is different. Once I got past the leaning curve and found a few options, it did become enjoyable. I can't yet say it's fun but I'm working on it. :) Some of the problems I've had seem to be due to Virtual Box. There's not a lot of hardware support in VB so that was another learning experience for me. Windows VM just flat doesn't support it. Can you imagine that?

I heard that about Windows VM - a scandal. I also use vBox on my desktop. Had no problems at all. But on my laptop I could not get it to work in vBox. I then installed it in a dual boot partition. Well, at least I now have both flavors.

But I like the vBox version a lot better. I have it running all day long and bring it up when I read about a new trick. With a dual boot that would be a lot more time consuming.

I have Ubuntu in the same vBox. That runs even better. It uses my full 22" screen. Win8 uses only a 16" screen on my 22" monitor. Any higher resolution does not work. There seems to be a general problem with the drivers for the monitors. On my laptop I am also running with a generic driver.

Yeah, I've got the same display "squeeze" in VB on my 22". I can bump the resolution up but then I get the sliding bars. I just scoot-up closer to the screen. :)
