    I'm still here......but I thought everyone was abandoning 7F for 8F

Anyway, I have played a bit, and seeing as you are discussing virtual machines and W8CP, why not have a laugh at this?

I didn't realise that you couldn't install 8 into the Microsoft VM, that's the one I have at the moment for XP Mode and I was thinking about downloading 8 into it but maybe not.

I just don't seem to have the excitement for 8 that I did when 7 was in beta so haven't looked at it, I am a member in the 8 forum but only visit every so often

    Hi Joan,

I wanted to try MSVM with W8CP, but Brink confirmed that it wouldn't work. The two options that are left are VirtualBox and VMWare Player : both are quite good, but I find VMWare Player a little more intuitive to setup.

Of course, Brink has done some good tutorials on them too:

I'm still here on Win7, still learning things about Win7 after all this time, and still trying to figure out things with XP even (XPmode post - current problem).

I have to chuckle at the spread between current software versions and the old software that many large corporations are still using.

Still kickin' and checling in often. Just I don't feel I have tons of useful info to contribute. I learn a lot from here and google. It seem's like a lot of manufacturers KBs and instruction ahs gotten much better over the last year.

Currently upgrading to an Intel hex core processor on an X79 platform. Even though I ordered parts rush and 3 day UPS and ordered all on the same day, the Egg has deliveries for me today, tomorrow and Friday...with that hard to stock processor coming friday, the Crucial SSD tomorrow, and the case, mobo, RAM, PSU, Bluray burner, cooler today. Yup I am upgrading everything but the graphics card and sound card it seems.lol. oh the waiting...

I read both forums daily but just don't have much to contribute so don't post much.

    I'm still here Wolfgang.

Can't say that I'm over impressed with Windows 8 so I guess I'll be sticking with 7 for some time to come.

I'm waiting to take delivery of a new computer in the next few days and I'll be putting Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit on it.

Thanks everybody for calling in. I just posted m Virtual Box setup for Win8 (and Ubuntu for comparison) in Golden's experimental thread. Even though I only get a 16" screen for Win8 (versus 22" for Ubuntu), it works beautifully. For the 'discovery period' I think the vBox setup it a lot better than double booting because I can keep it running in the background all the time and bring it up any time when I want to try something out.

My absence is explained in this post. However, the training has been ended and since Monday I m back to regular inbound calls. Oh! The Irish people love me so much.

Since I m back to my regular job, I will be able to spend good time here as usual. :)
