Windows 7: Mobile Phone contracts (UK)

Mobile Phone contracts (UK)

I've not been able to find a clear answer about this anywhere.

My phone is due for an upgrade next month, but my actual contract doesn't end until July. I'm not too bothered about getting a new phone. My HTC Desire does everything I want. If I was to get a new phone, it'd just do everything the same, but faster, and with custom ROMs mine's fast enough.

What I'm wanting to do is just bring my monthly costs on everything down to save money. I'm wanting to change to a SIM only contract with my phone for 10 a month (I'm paying about 27 a month currently).

Does anyone know if I can switch plans like this? So when my phone upgrade is due, I could switch over to this new plan? I'm with Orange.

Sorry I can't help you I've never had a contract phone, I've always gone with pay as you go. I have both Orange and Vodafone, but always use Vodafone as they have the best coverage where I live especially in the house.

My HTC Wildfire S is on Vodafone and at present I get the 10 Freedom Freebie which gives me 30 days with 100 minutes to any network or landline, 300 texts and 50mb Internet.

Thanks, Joan.

I was wanting to go with something similar. Orange have a 10 SIM only, which is pretty much the same as what I'm paying for now with my handset, which I'm happy with, so was wondering how soon I can switch to that. I'll go in to an Orange shop nearer the time of my phone upgrade and ask.

I wouldn't get the upgrade because that will nullify your existing contract, if you want to condense pricing, I would consider waiting for your contract to end, then get the sim only contract.
