I know you can't give or receive rep in the Chillout Forum but I thought that posts in that Forum didn't count to your total score either. I
wonder if it is possible to stop them from being added to the total. This would solve a few problems!

That is the ability of discrimination, which make our forum the best place :)
Hi Archie. I know that I have been guilty of posting in the word games almost every day. My intention was never to run up my post count. I just enjoy playing the games. I also very much enjoy helping out someone with a problem, when I feel I can offer something useful. I also read almost every thread on the forum, because I have found it a very good way to learn things I never knew before. The amount of talent on this Forum is simply staggering and I consider it a privilege to be part of it.
Barry, there is a difference in playing the word games, and using them to run up your post count. The games are addictive, and increase your vocabulary. If that was all we did, it would be different. I wouldn't worry about it, everyone sees the help you give as well

I know I raised this before but I really think it would be to the Forum's advantage to set the board to not count the posts in the Chillout Forum towards the running total of posts for the rep count. I feel a bit uneasy about rejoining the word games as I always thought that the posts didn't count there. I know you can't get or receive rep there. I don't know the inner workings of vBulletin but would be willing to find out if it can be done if others thought it was a good idea. If there is enough support here perhaps we could approach John on the subject?

I'd certainly support that. Unlike John, I won't stop playing , but would like to see my post count represent help given, and not just my blathering

P.S. John, don't stop playing because of this. If you enjoy it, it's all just harmless fun.

We've already disabled reputation for chillout, and limited the period during which it can be given elsewhere (basically, posts older than a certain age can no longer receive reps). As regards actual post count in Chillout, I'm not sure that there is anything that can be done. Limiting the amount of rep that can be given, regardless of whether your power is greater, is perhaps one method that has been used to tackle this. Ufortunately, no reputation/thanks system is perfectly ideal, so compromises like what I have described above need to be employed.

Congratulations. It is more than just getting Rep. It is a sign that the Administrators have confidence in you.
