Because my old Windows XP box died on me this past weekend.

Well, sort of. I mean, it seems obvious to me the hard drive is failing, and since as a whole the thing hasn't been of much use for some time now, I see no reason into keeping it alive anymore.

Going to try and sell the 21" CRT, it's in good condition.

And I wonder if anybody out there needs a GeForce 5200 for their AGP slot. Maybe it can find a new home.

512 MB of RAM, 1.0 GHz AMD Athlon Thunderbird processor. Off to the recycling center.

    It had a good run...
The funny thing is, that with a lot of that old equipment, you almost can't give it away. The scrap guy will take it, but I don't think too many people want to deal with those huge CRT's.

What would you want to get out of the 21" CRT? I cannot even remember the last CRT monitor I owned. I think it was a 19" CTX or something.

I know what you guys mean, and I don't really have my hopes all that high. I just figure, give it a shot, Craigslist is free, if I can sell the items, fine, if not, no big deal. I'm just imagining that maybe there's a possibility that somebody out there needs parts for an old system that they want to keep alive, for whatever reason. Not too long ago I even was able to sell (for $1) an old keyboard that used the old 5-pin DIN connector, which was prior to the PS/2 connectors. This individual needed it for an old system that they still wanted to use. (Strange, I know ... but I don't judge.) And this 21" monitor may be huge and bulky, but the darn thing has a real nice picture, and it's in great condition. It just seems a shame to just dispose of the darn thing, even if I get it recycled, which I assume is better than a landfill.

But I know it may end up that way.

When I volunteered at a charity store for a while, all CRT's had the VGA cables cut and were dumped in a bin. Such a waste.

I've still got one but mines a 17" that's sat in the corner as well in front of the XP box, it has my back up stock of loo rolls and kitchen rolls on top of it.

Just make sure you put the phone down first, before wiping your nether regions.

I can hear it now: "Can you speak up? There's a load of sh** on the line!"
