You're all invited to the funeral

Because my old Windows XP box died on me this past weekend.

Well, sort of. I mean, it seems obvious to me the hard drive is failing, and since as a whole the thing hasn't been of much use for some time now, I see no reason into keeping it alive anymore.

Going to try and sell the 21" CRT, it's in good condition.

And I wonder if anybody out there needs a GeForce 5200 for their AGP slot. Maybe it can find a new home.

512 MB of RAM, 1.0 GHz AMD Athlon Thunderbird processor. Off to the recycling center.

    It had a good run...

I had a xp pro machine die a couple months ago I feel your pain. It's sitting in the garage collecting dust at the moment.Think the dead psu might of killed the mobo also so I didn't bother fixing it since it's really old from like 2002 and bearly died in febarary,so it lasted 10 years before it died. Saved the IDE in it though which seems to have a little speed problems so idk how long that is going to last but put it in the other pentium 4 i had in the house which is still alive. So now the other one has two 40gb ide drives with 1gb of ram running win xp pro.

    Thank you.

Yep, just like yours, I bought that system from a mom-and-pop store back in 2001/2002, and it lasted about ten years. Didn't assemble my own systems back then like I do now.

At least now with it being out of the way, there's more room on that side of my home office in the basement, so I put my bean bag there, and it's great to lie in there and chill out with my headphones on. :)

Sending you my condolences for your loss my old XP box is sitting behind me side off gathering dust, took the hard drive out to try and use it for storage but it's kaput so the box is just sitting there acting as a place to stash things on top, more like a table than a computer.

Yeah, the economics of it is pretty funny. A ten-year-old PC, even if it still works, isn't worth much. On the other hand, a muscle car that's four times as old can go for tens of thousands of dollars.

Hilarious pictures! Maybe I could at least take the case and put it outside in the winter for suet or bird seed or something.
