Photoshop is indeed difficult to replace. I got my PS serial from dad's work. I'd buy it myself if it was at all affordable... 999$... too much
I love OSS (the future of software), but GIMP is too limited (compared to PS).

A nice addition to the FREE arsenal is Smart Defrag: it's a VERY good defragmenting tool - can run in the background and defrag when idle. My disk is completely fragment-free at all times thanks to it.

Well, I will debate the OSS is the future of software all day, cant stand the GPL at all, if you REALLY want something to be TRUELY FREE with NO CONDITIONS, use the BSD lisence, and as for RMS...well he is just a freeking nut, and yes I have met the man and herd him speak.

As for the origional intent of this thread.

I have recieved your shipping address vi PM macgyver2, and will be makeing the purchase from amazon.com, and having the item shipped directly to you upon release.

    Just as a side note:

Now that completion time is near,

I just wanted to point out that there is no 'Rep' button in this forum.

However, one can find messages from wwoods and macgyver2 in other forums,

that do have a 'Rep' button.

If you don't know how to do that, make a post here saying so.

I've been waiting for a post from macgyver2 that the product is in his hand...

    I use Gimp.
Gimp is very good. I have never used photoshop, and I probably never will. I find it very easy and slick to use, Although that is probably because that is all I use. I find a good replacement for Adobe Illustrator is InkScape. Oh another one for replacing photo shop is Paint.net.
Have a look at the free version of Art Rage as well.
Alternative to Microsoft office there isn't really a decent one in my opinion but you can use openoffice.org which i heard is quite good.

Here is some recommendations from me that I use.
    Ccleaner
    Microsoft Security Essentials -Recent Release
    Gimp
    Inkscape
    Paint.net
Blender-I'm not very good at it.
    VlC Media player
    Audacity
    Any Video Converter
    Google Sketchup
    Mozilla Firefox
Phun - an Awesome Physics Illustrator
    Windows Live Movie Maker
    Windows Live Photo Gallery
    Rocket Dock

I know some of these are in other posts ,but I really like them.
Have a look at these links

    Phew, Hope that Helps.

I think you will find that this is the actual website GIMP - The GNU Image Manipulation Program .

Thanks everyone, I have been troubleshooting a problem with my laptop crashing going into sleep mode. I have tried many things and after a few restarts it keeps coming back.
When I get the DVD in hand I might just do a clean install and see if I still have issues.
I also let my wife use this laptop so she can talk with her mom who is really sick and plays some game on myspace all day. Its funny got this latop for me and she uses it more then I do now. When I get my website back up and running I will have my artwork posted there so you all can see what I do now.

    Thanks again Wwoods!!

You might want to check out Find Open Source Alternatives to commercial software | Open Source Alternative - osalt.com as they give alternative software to paid ones.

    Anyone heard from wwoods?

I never got my copy of windows 7 no clue what happened. After all that work finding software that was free and worked on 7 and now I have about 3 days left before I need to go back to Vista or have no computer.

I don't know what to think, there could be a legit reason for not getting the deal he offered or I could have been played in a matter of speaking and people thought I would be the one to fail.

If this makes me a jerk for posting this so be it, I was honest and even rescheduled stuff around the deal that never happened. If there's good reason for him to be not responding to email or even coming back here then I am sorry. If I got played well at least I found free software and really hope Vista isn't that bad since its the only legal OS I own.
