Any Nic has an permanently assigned MAC address. Its part of some standard. (off topic I just noticed my cursor is missing)
Yes you can spoof a mac address, but a petty thief wouldn't know how to do it.

True , but so do all routers and such - and it is this MAC address that is presented to the Net - so unless MACs have some form of broadcast ID, MAC addresses would not be an way to easy to locate the stolen units

That is exactly what the bio's embedded lojac system I talked about earlier does. Just like you can set a mac to use the built in web cam to email you the face of anyone who is not in the computers recognition database.

cannot connect to iTunes store or any apple web site
Hi I have had the above described problem for over a month now and despite trawling the internet and trying the remedies offered, I still find myself unable to connect to the iTunes store or any Apple website. This has been the case since I purchased an iPhone and installed (via file Hippo)...
