Hehehe Arc - true, its called "animal attraction".
I have followed this discussion about Higgs particle around the media with great interest. Thursday at work on lunch someone started to talk about it and due a story I had seen the same morning on Finnish Breakfast TV (clip for those who understand Finnish ), I told how interesting everything is, how the science is finally given more information about what this all is and where and how it started.
A co-worker mentioned he finds it absurd how science is trying to take credits from God. Suddenly we were talking about The Big Bang and stuff. One thing led to another, suddenly this mentioned co-worker asked why science can't accept the fact that the universe was created some 6,000 years ago (really!). When asked how to hell we can find a million year old fossil if the world is only 6,000 years old, he bluntly told the creator had a reason to create the fossil already almost million years old and it is not up to us to try to reason why. Lunch and discussion ended here.
As mentioned earlier in this thread, back in history the earth was believed to be flat. Science proved it to be a globe while church was telling people believing so were witches. Same thing with the earth and planets orbiting the Sun; there was a big chance you were burned to death if you believed it for the church told earth is the center of the universe and sun is rotating us.
It's been like this last 2,000 years. Science proves something, the church keeps arguing until the bitter end when they finally have to acknowledge the truth.
We cannot ignore the science every time it contradicts our personal beliefs.

It seems that this thread is turning into a religious one without any help from me. That's not really a surprise to me, because all religious fanatics are not just in churches.
Its easy really : in Newtonian physics, gravity is the force of attraction between any objects of mass. Einstein postulated that in the presence of bodies of large mass, gravity is the warping of space-time. Eddington proved that objects of heavy mass do indeed warp space-time by measuring the deflection of light from stars, by the sun, during a solar eclipse. This gave rise to the acceptance of General Relativity.

You fail to understand what I said. You cannot define what anything is by merely describing their characteristics and effects. It is easy only if you settle for less than a complete understanding.
