I thought the idea of the award was as a recognition to the real experts in the community that spend countless hours of their own time helping others with Microsoft products and not advertising them.
Lets face it, if you ain't re-awarded then they've lost the plot with what an MVP is all about and it ain't worth having.
Thanks Kathryn. I'm trying to be enthused. But I feel like the best OS ever is being smothered in its crib even before it's reached the peak of its popularity.
Thanks, John. That means as much to me as the award itself. You have given us all a great gift which should keep on giving. We've never been busier.

zr3010 , That is the best quote I have seen in a long time thank you so much for posting it
Hello Greg,
Yes you will still be eligible. The MVP award is for the support you provide for all Windows, not just Windows 8.
Social media presence is a very broad generic term. Take me for example, I do all my help only at VF, EF, and SF. I only relay tutorials off of FaceBook and Twitter. Every once in a blue moon, I post at the MVP private discusion sites. Basically all of my activity is here at VF, EF, and SF. So far, I have had no issus with my MVP award (4+) be renewed each year.
If you stress over trying to be everywhere, you're going to burn yourself out. I'd say stick with what your happy and good at. Next, just occassionlly post an update on FaceBook, Twitter, etc... if you like about say a link to a new tutorial or solution you created.
As John posted, if you don't get renewed, then there's something wrong at Microsoft and not you with all that you do. :)
Greg I'm sure your MVP lead is aware of your tireless work you do here. Not many have the knowledge if Installation and Setup as you have and we all learn from you.
You can aslo point out the gregsvc.exe to them as well.
Seriously, I wish you the best!
I agree with the rest of them, I don't see how they can not give you another year, your work here is a great testament to your knowledge and help. I'll keep everything crossed, but I don't think you'll need it, I'm sure your name will be among the MVPs in the January list.
Can anyone suggest an easy way I can link key fixit posts or tutorials to FB, Twitter and LinkedIn to populate those? I'm being told in MVP group I joined on LinkedIn that with what I do this will be adequate for social media connections.
Also if anyone wants to friend, tweet or link to help me get it going (if it's not too late) I guess you'd PM me.
Guess I need to make a gregrocker FB page to separate it from my personal, or can I just wall off my personal stuff.
